PLEDGE 6:31
Bob read minutes - approved by Tammy

Guest: Steel Valley League President - Chuck - from Adult League
-stated he is aware of complaints and offered his ability to remedy any future problems
-he will have a rep at our monthly meetings
-he already hired new umpires who will police the teams according to standards of conduct
-PAL will try not to schedule adults on yellow when kids are playing on green and purple
-Pete brought up adults smoking weed and threatening him, Chuck and board not aware of these claims
-Bob suggesting anyone smoking weed, etc police can be called to handle this could be anyone not just adult league
-Bob and Michele pointed out that we have problems with other families not following parking rules this is not specific to just adults

-per Michele- the adults have always helped when the complex flooded, they are members of this community and some have played at PAL and have families who play at PAL. They have sold fundraisers when asked and always pay on time

per Kevin - this year was different because adults had 5-6 slots instead of 4 and the season ran over longer into the fall

per Chuck - adults will begin early and will no into the fall this coming year

per Pete - he feels there should be no tolerance and since we had issues with adults in the past that they should not be allowed to come back no matter that they are willing to remedy the concerns.

Chad asked how much money the adults pay for the fields and per Kevin it is $2200/season for 4 slots
-Pete said if we 'get rid of adults' that he will write PAL a check for $2200 and insisted that Jess K put this in the minutes, Jess K said 'ok'.

Treasurur report: JOHN: main account $17,981, savings $505.07 and venmo account $730
-he asked if anyone had any ideas for fundraiser

Baseball report: KEVIN: season is over.  discussed problems with HAAA and not having any control over the schedule. also problems getting other leagues to join with PAL

Softball report: CHAD: season over
-issue Maroadi using players who aren't registered instead of call ups
-Corey will be on tournament committee and was reminded by Michele to sign up on the MCAA sight by Feb ($75 fee)

Shafton: BOB
-water to be shut of Nov. 1st
gator to be picked up because transmission is not done - will work on it in off season
-can someone take signs down?
-per john port a john to be picked up
-per john need blue bases for spring and catchers gear
-suggested to have an equipment list for next meeting - do inventory - to order anything we need early since there are nationwise shortages of everything

Fundraiser / Sponsorship - JOhn: we are close to break-even on the meat ticket. no tournament so need more tickets sold.
-Chuck from Adult league took some to sell
-Tammy to take tickets to businesses to sell  when giving the plaques
Jim - asked to send the banner for shafton neighbor to him - Jess K to resend
per bob - banner to be red or blue backstop for neighbors to see as this person picks up garbage daily

Concession: TAMMY: it is shut down,
-concession was cleaned
-food taken off shelves
-ice tea and left over buns avail. if anyone wants to take them after meeting

Adaptive: done

NEW BUSINESS:

1. INCREASE PRICES FOR REGISTRATION FOR SPRING - can finalize at NOVEMBER meeting

2. MOTION TO NOT ALLOW ADULTS TO PLAY NEXT SEASON (CHAD), SECOND BY PETE: VOTE 6 FOR AND 3 AGAINST
-ADULTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY NEXT SEASON - KEVIN TO NOTIFY CHUCK AT STEEL VALLEY

3. HAAA MEETING REP: KYLE GAVE UPDATE:
-haaa without umps for 8u
no reps coming from other organizations
umpire pricing compliants
-if baseball goes to haaa we need a rep to go to monthly meetings

4. MOTION TO GO TO HAAA: VOTE 6 FOR AND 2 AGAINST
-KYLE TO BE PAL REP AND GO TO MEETINGS

5. MICHELE REQUESTS TO GO TO LIFETIME MEMBER - ISSUED A LETTER TO KEVIN *
MOTION FOR MICHELE TO BE LIFETIME MEMBER - BOB SECOND: VOTE 10 FOR AND 0 AGAINST
SO MICHELE ZULA IS LIFETIME MEMBER AS OF END OF THIS MEETING

6. ISSUE(previously asked by Nicole): CAN A BOARD MEMBER PLAY FOR ANOTHER IN-HOUSE ORGANIZATION IF IT IS OFFERED AT PAL?
-per Kevin it has been an unwritten rule that it is a conflict of interest if a board member is playing for another in-house team when it is offered at PAL
-travel is exception because PAL does not offer any travel teams
-per Kevin, 3 active board members were asked to step down before any vote for removal and they did so because of this conflict: Brian Urey, Jeremy Mclaughlin and Tod kickch.
-Nicole had originally asked this question of board member Tammy.
-Tammy had been playing for travel team 'Heat' but announced at meeting she resigned from her position at Heat travel to avoid any conflicts - even if it truly isn't a conflict. She mentioned she may play for the Tigers instead.

7. ISSUE: 8u  parent drama ongoing - specifically with a certain ex-coach and his ex-wife.
-foul language in front of children
-per Kevin he talked to direct witnesses and got two very different stories
-per several board members they feel kids may have been taken away from the situation but still inappropriate language was spoken
-parents going through divorce, ex wife may have thrown a chair and ex coach/ father very inappropriate reaction and not able to control reaction in front of the team
-per Kevin ex coach / father NOT ALLOWED ON THE FIELD to begin with.
-per Kevin both parents were suspended 1 game and explained why
-per Pete he feels PAL should send a written letter  to the parents and grandparents and tell them this is inappropriate behavior and if it happens again they are gone and child will not be able to play
-per BOB he feels PAL needs to be careful about writing letters anytime a parent gets out of line. there could be legal ramifications and PAL probably shouldn't get into the middle of a domestic dispute. The coaches should handle this as it happens and call police if it does get out of hand. the Board member on duty needs notified as well.
-per Jess K. her opinion is PAL shouldn't be micromanaging every parent who swears or argues in front of the kids if we did that we would be kicking people out every week this can be handled by the coaches then elevated to board member on duty and if still not resolved discussed at board meetings.  We have had board members in similar situations and PAL never kicked anyone out of PAL or banned anyone these things usually are not serious and work themselves out.
-Jess K pointed out she was the board member on duty during this particular incident and was never notified at the time that any of this happened. all she hard was a chair was thrown at the fence but this was after the fact.  No formal complaints to PAL were received after this incident - no emails, no messages which is unusual since we receive complaints about lesser problems. Perhaps it is being over exaggerated.
-per Kyle - he was in a similar situation with his ex and had to call the police. PAL never banned him or his children's mother and it all worked out in the end and Kyle is now an active member of PAL board.
-GENERAL CONCENSUS THAT THE SITUATION SHOULD BE MONITORED, SOFTBALL COMMISIONER TO DETERMINE IF SAID EX-COACH SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO COACH AGAIN - SOFTBALL COMMISIONER TO MONITOR AND CAN DISCUSS WITH BOARD IF ISSUES PERSIST
